Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Custom Embroidery FAQ
1. How do I place a custom embroidery order?
You can start by sending us your idea through the order form. Please include what item you would like embroidered, the text, name, initials or logo, your preferred colours, approximate size, quantity, deadline and any reference images.
If you are unsure about the design, that is okay — send what you have, and we will guide you through the next steps.
2. What can you embroider?
We create custom embroidery for a wide range of items, including clothing, sweatshirts, T-shirts, cosmetic bags, ring pillows, tablecloths, keepsake pieces, gifts and small business items.
We also work with meaningful personal details such as names, initials, dates, logos, baby clothing details, family memories and special messages. If you are unsure whether your item is suitable for embroidery, you can send us a photo and we will advise you.
3. Can I send my own design or logo?
Yes. You can send your own logo, artwork, photo, sketch, screenshot or design idea. Clear, high-resolution files are best, especially for logos and detailed designs, as they help us prepare a cleaner embroidery result.
If your artwork is not ready for embroidery, we may need to simplify small details, adjust thin lines or resize elements so the design stitches beautifully on fabric. We will review your file and let you know what is possible before starting.
4. What file formats can I upload?
You can upload JPG, PNG, PDF, SVG, AI, DXF or ZIP files. For logos and artwork, vector files such as SVG, AI, EPS or PDF are usually best because they keep the design clean and sharp.
For photos or screenshots, please send the highest quality image you have. The image should be clear, not blurry, and show the details you want to include in the embroidery.
Please note that embroidery is different from printing. Very small text, thin lines, tiny details, gradients and photo-realistic effects may need to be simplified so the design can stitch beautifully on fabric.
If you are unsure which file to send, upload what you have and we will review it before starting.
Best files for logos: SVG, AI, EPS or PDF
Best files for photos: high-quality JPG or PNG
Best files for ideas: screenshot, sketch or written description
5. Can you help create the embroidery design?
Yes. If you do not have a finished embroidery design, we can help prepare a simple layout based on your text, initials, name, logo, photo, baby clothing detail or embroidery idea.
We can help choose placement, size, thread colours and layout so the design suits the item and fabric. Some designs may need to be simplified or adjusted before embroidery, especially if they include very small details, thin lines or photo-style elements.
For more complex custom artwork or detailed digitising, additional preparation time or a design fee may apply. We will confirm this before starting.
6. How much does custom embroidery cost?
Custom embroidery pricing depends on the item, design size, stitch complexity, number of colours, fabric type, quantity and the amount of preparation needed before embroidery.
Simple text or initials are usually faster to prepare, while logos, detailed artwork, keepsake designs and photo-based embroidery may require more time for digitising and testing.
After we review your request, we will provide a custom quote before starting. If extra design preparation, digitising or test stitching is required, we will let you know in advance.
7. How long does production take?
Production time depends on the item, design complexity, quantity and our current workload.
Standard production time is up to 15 business days after payment and artwork approval. Simple orders may be completed sooner. More complex or highly detailed embroidery may require additional time.
If you have a specific deadline, please include it when submitting your order. We’ll let you know if a rush service is available.
8. Do you ship across Australia and New Zealand?
Yes. Monomi accepts custom embroidery orders across Australia and New Zealand.
Shipping cost and delivery time depend on your location, parcel size and shipping method. Once your order is ready, we will provide shipping details and tracking where available.
If you are sending your own item to be embroidered, please contact us first so we can confirm the best way to send it safely.
9. Can I order one personalised item?
Yes. You can order a single personalised item. We accept one-off custom embroidery orders for gifts, keepsakes, baby items, ring pillows, clothing and special occasions.
We also accept small batch orders for families, events, bridal parties, small businesses and personalised product collections.
Each order is reviewed individually so we can confirm whether the item, fabric and design are suitable for embroidery.
10. Can I choose thread colours?
Yes. You can request your preferred thread colours when placing your order.
If you are unsure which colours will work best, we can help choose thread colours that suit your fabric, design and overall style. Please note that thread colours may look slightly different on screen compared with the final embroidery.
For logos or brand embroidery, we will do our best to match your colours as closely as possible.
11. What if I only have a photo or screenshot?
That is okay. You can send us a photo, screenshot, sketch or simple idea.
We will review the image and let you know whether it can be used for embroidery. Some images may need to be cleaned up, simplified, redrawn or converted into a suitable embroidery design before stitching.
Embroidery is not the same as printing, so very small details, shadows, gradients or photo-realistic effects may need to be adjusted for the best result on fabric.
12. How do I contact Monomi?
You can contact Monomi through the order form on our website or by email.
Email: orders@monomiembroidery.com.au
Please include your item, design idea, preferred size, colours, quantity, deadline and any reference images so we can provide the most accurate response.
13. How do I care for embroidered items?
Embroidered items should be washed gently according to the fabric care instructions. We recommend using a gentle cycle, mild detergent and avoiding bleach or harsh chemicals.
Do not iron directly over the embroidery. If ironing is needed, place a pressing cloth over the embroidered area and use low to medium heat.
14. Can I send my own item to be embroidered?
Yes, in many cases you can send your own item to be embroidered. Please contact us first with a photo and details of the item so we can check whether the fabric, size and construction are suitable for embroidery.
Some delicate, very thick, stretchy or difficult-to-hoop items may not be suitable. We will confirm this before you send your item.
15. When do I need to pay?
Payment details will be confirmed after we review your request and provide a quote. Custom embroidery orders usually require payment before production begins.
Because personalised embroidery is made specially for you, work begins only after the design details, price and timeline are confirmed.
16. Can I send baby clothing for a MAMA sweatshirt or keepsake embroidery?
Yes. You can send baby clothing to create a keepsake embroidery piece, including our MAMA sweatshirt made from meaningful baby garments.
Please make sure all baby clothing is clean, freshly washed and in good condition before posting it to us. To create the letters or design pieces beautifully, the garments should have enough usable fabric for us to cut from.
Very small items may not always be suitable if there is not enough fabric available for the design. If you are unsure, please send us photos first and we will be happy to advise.
Baby clothing must be posted to us at the customer’s expense. Return shipping for the completed order will be confirmed separately before production begins.
Before posting your items, please contact us so we can confirm the best delivery details and guide you through the next steps.
